Antique 9K Rose Gold Iolite Pendant Charm Dangler

This delightful antique charm with purple-blue Iolite was hand crafted around 1910-1920.

Iolite was discovered in 1813. It is a semi precious stone, a variety of the mineral called cordierite found in purplish blue and it is an untreated gem. The more intense the colour of this gem the more valuable it is. It is mined in Sri Lanka, India and Myanmar. It is said to be a stone of travellers and dreamers, aiding the spirit of journey and illumination.

Our lovely Iolite charm is hallmarked with "375" for English 9 karat gold with 9 karat gold bale which has been tested. The gold bale has been added, replacing a smaller original bale. This larger bale allows for her to be worn on thicker chains and the dog clips of your Albert chains. The mellow rose gold works beautifully with the blues and purples of the iolite. 

The gorgeous, glistening iolite has been tested by a qualified FGA gemologist. It is a lovely quality stone. It measures 8.48 by 6.55 mm in its smooth and fine bezel setting and is estimated to weigh 0.77 carats. The bezel setting is open backed. The charm is 14.44 mm long including the bale. The iolite is in a fantastic condition, with no chips or rubbing - it is a hard stone, 7 - 7.5 on a Mohs scale of gemstone hardness. The gold work is also in very good antique condition.
