Antique Continental Rose Cut Diamond Half Hoop Band Ring

This darling rose cut diamond beauty dates back to around 1880-1890 Continental Europe. She is a lovely variation on a classic half hoop ring, but due to her non graduating design she is also a charming half eternity ring ! You do not see many of these so were were very pleased to have crossed paths with her !

She is not hallmarked and tests 14 karat gold of rich, yellow tone with a silver layer at the top of the diamond set front. The settings for the diamonds are beautifully cut out and open backed, so she is safe to use in the shower and no need to take the ring off when washing your hands. The cut out open backs are divine - what super fine work and an amazing craftsmanship ! All made by hand and tool. The five lovely rose cut diamonds are bezel set in silver and are interspersed with silver sections. The diamonds estimated total weight is 0.15 carats. They are bright and twinkly stones and set a gentle, moonlit tone in their silver settings. Two of them show small inclusions but you need a strong jeweller's loupe to see them. 

Her shank with the beautifully engraved floral shoulder detail is exquisite. The diamond section of this ring measures 19.4 mm across the finger and 3.56 mm north to south. She sits lovely and low, just 2.24 mm off the top of the finger and weighs 2.5 grams. She is a size US 6 1/4 or UK M 1/2 and can be re-sized up or down a little. She is in very good overall antique condition, with some wear to the silver top as well as engraving on the shoulders, commensurate with her age.
