Antique French 18K Gold Enamel Clasp

Antique French black and white enamel clasp hallmarked for Paris 1838-1847.

The clasp features typical workmanship of the 1840's France and is hand crafted in 18 karat buttery yellow gold, with hallmarks on both end loops. The black and white enamel and fine engraving are a hallmark of French jewellery of the period. There is some loss of the black enamel as well as a dent on one side of the clasp (please see last photo). It does not effect the look and functionality of the clasp, which closes nice and tight and otherwise is in good antique condition. The clasp measures 17.1 by 10.5 mm excluding the loops on the end and the total length of it is 23.1 mm. It weighs 0.9 grams. As you see on our photo it can also be worn as a charm.
