Antique French Diamond Dormeuse Conversion Earrings
A gorgeous pair of antique, pinch colet set diamond dormeuse earrings. Beautiful!!
Both the 18 karat gold French dormeuse ear fittings and the gold backed silver set diamonds are antique and they date from the second half of the 19th century. They were not originally together but form a beautiful union - they found their other, perfect half !
The fittings are hallmarked with French Eagle head for 18 karat gold, while the diamond settings are not hallmarked, they have been tested. The delicious and super sparkly old mine cut diamonds weigh an estimated 0.61 carats together ( estimated 0.33 and 0.28 carats respectively). They are superbly clean and have the antique, moonlit grey tone to them, one is slightly darker than the other. We love their individual quirks. The diamond coolest measure 5.87 by 5.99 mm each, they are wonderful, pinch colet settings we adore! The earrings total length is 16.7 mm and they weigh a lovely and comfortable 1.9 grams together. We adore the dormeuse fittings, they are safe and secure and so comfortable to wear that you can sleep in them, hence the name - "dormir" means to sleep in French ! They are also extremely flattering, sitting just below the ear lobe, so while they are styled as drop earrings they are easy to wear any time and with everything. These earrings are closed back set and so not suitable for any water sports, or showers ! They are in lovely antique condition.
We love ..... a good pair of diamond dormeuses, there is nothing as lovely to deliciously frame your beautiful face - as a pair of these French fancies !
