Antique Georgian French 18K Gold Silver Paste Dormeuse Earrings
Who here is a dormeuse earrings kinda gal?!? But when we say Georgian paste dormeuse ..... we are talking truly divine, French, of the utmost quality ones, with deliciously crisp pinched collet settings, bright paste stones, cut and polished so beautifully to imitate the old mine cut diamonds so, so perfectly!!
They are hallmarked with the French Eagle head hallmark for 18 carat gold and this mark dates them to between 1838-1847 and we date them to nearer 1847 - this is the period in the history of France just before the 1848 French Revolution !! The settings are made in silver. Their antique condition is absolutely wonderful!! The pastes even have the faintest hint of peachy pink to them. And they are the perfect size, chunky and big, they look like mega diamond earrings when worn! And they're not too huge or too small. They are literally perfect. And because they are not closed backed, you can get them wet too!!
Now for some measurements; the large bottom stones in their settings measure 10 mm top to bottom by 9.12 mm side to side. Together with the smaller top stone with the setting they are 12.64 and 12.87 mm long. From the top of the ear fitting to the bottom of it they measure 16.41 and 15.75 mm, a very tiny difference as they are hand crafted, absolutely unnoticeable when worn. The paste stones are also hand cut and so they really do look like Georgian diamond earrings of 1.5 carat each. Fabulous !! The earrings weigh 3.7 grams together and are, did we mention it already, in fantastic antique condition.
We adore .... these French Georgian beauties, they are regal, divine, elegant and so, so wanted ! We hope you love them too.
