Antique Victorian No Heat Natural Sapphire Crescent Moon Pendant Brooch

Exquisite ... natural no heat blue sapphire divine moon crescent. This heavenly beauty is celestial love !!

She dates back to around 1890, the most lovely Continental Victorian Era creation. She is set with stunning electric blue sapphires. We had them tested and they are no heat, natural sapphires of Basaltic origin, the moon is sold with a certificate confirming this. The sapphire estimated total weight is 1.25 carats. They are beautiful, bright and lively gems and throw a firework of sparkle around them. 

The crescent was originally a brooch with a screw on fitting, meaning that it could have been a part of a set of jewellery or a tiara. Victorians loved their jewels to have multiple functions and we love that too ! We added a matching in colour 9 karat bale so you can wear this beauty as a pendant when the brooch fitting is taken off (very easy to do) and it can still be worn as a brooch with the fitting back on as the bale falls unobtrusively to the side. The bale is large enough to fit through a thicker chain and the dog clip of your Albert chains. The crescent is not hallmarked and tests 14-18 karat gold. The back of the crescent is cut out beautifully, with as much precision and care as the front - this is always a sign of the fantastic quality of a jewel. 

The crescent itself measures 23.5 by 23.0 mm excluding the bale, as you look at it hanging as a pendant. Her total length with the bale is 24.25 mm, a lovely, wearable medium size. She weighs 3.1 grams as a pendant and 4.7 grams together with the brooch fitting. In fantastic antique condition.
