Antique Victorian Natural no heat sapphire & diamond half hoop ring

The design of this Victorian classic - five gemstones across the finger in a curved half hoop has been loved for centuries now.
The contrast of alternating colours works ever so well, one beauty paying the complement to the other so harmoniously. The colours and quality of the gems chosen for this ring are stunning. The vibrant deep blue of the natural untreated no heat sapphires and the brightness of the icy white of the diamonds are the reason this ring is so special.
It was made in Victorian England around 1890 in buttery, rich yellow gold. The ring is hallmarked with 18c for 18 karat gold. It is size US 7 1/8 or UK size O 1/4 at the moment but can be sized up or down a few sizes. Please check with us before you purchase if you are unsure. It weighs 3.3 grams. This classic beauty features a gorgeous, finely carved gallery and the fabulous gemstones are set into the fine and secure split claw settings. The top of the ring measures 6.3 mm north to south, the gems in their settings spread 19.9 mm across the finger. It sits beautifully low, 4 mm off the top of the finger and feels smooth and silky ....It is in excellent condition as are all the gemstones. It must have been looked after very well !
The old mine cut diamonds are white, bright and very sparkly, one with a couple of tiny specks of inclusions, visible only under strong loupe. They are estimated to weigh 0.41 carats each, a total of 0.82 carats. The centre sapphire measures 6.1 mm in diameter and is estimated to weigh 1.17 carats. The side ones are 3.6 and 3.7 mm in diameter, with estimated weight of 0.45 carats, making the sapphire weight an estimated total of 1.62 carats. They have been assessed by a qualified gemologist and we are assured they are untreated, no heat old mine sapphires. They are absolutely fabulous colour, rich deep royal blue, saturated and intense and so full of life !
